Alright, let's sit down and figure this out. I've been seeing a bunch of new trends out there lately. From blog to blog to blog I see people hyping up a particular style of coat, or a boot, or a flare pant, etc. Kids are wearing boots again!? And it's the coolest thing ever? Who woulda known? I thought that they were for harsher weather, a harsh walk, or occasions where a tough situation may require a tough foot covering. But, I digress.
I was reading this "unique blog" that I found through the Award Tour' website, of which I heard about from Hypebeast. How do I find these things? Insomnia.
Again, I digress.
These two gents called themselvesHerds of the Fathers(cool ass name, no?) and they claim to have "broken the mold" so to speak. Is it just me or is everyone saying that they are breaking the mold these days? Is there some sort of uprising happening where every kid with a computer and a local print shop can start a clothing business? And then their motto is to "stay original", or, "don't follow trends, buy our shit". Not to bring down Herds of the Fathers but they were just the last straw for me. Their motto is as follows:
"We will preach to our customers the importance of fashion consistency and the importance of staying away from fads and trends. Because trends do not last long, they fade away as often as the seasons change. We will create an everlasting brand that remains stable for centuries to come."
But by changing the way you dress everyday in an attempt at being original, isn't that defeating the point of truly being original? How about you wake up every morning and not give a fuck about a fashion anything. Wear your old jeans and any random t-shirt that was handed down to you by your dad or a freebie shirt from a festival. This is just my opinion. In no way, shape or form do I expect everyone to agree with me. My fashion sense has never been 'up to date', mostly because I choose not to buy new things that would mimic a style.
I don;t know. That's just me. I understand that a lot ( a looooooot) of people need fashion in order to have a purpose but in reality, I don't want to.
The fashion scene is a waste to me. There shouldn't be anything called a fashion scene. If you wake up and get dressed and look damn good just because that's who you are, and your clothes make you comfortable, then, FUCK YA! More power to you. If you make clothing that is functionally superior to other clothing lines or increases the comfort level of your day-to-day living then, FUCK YA! You are truly an innovator.
As for all of those that have to prep their outfit the night before and still have to stare at their huge closet an extra 30 minutes before leaving the house. You're a lame individual with truly, truly, truly, too much time on your hands and not enough productive activities to take part in... you silly adolescent.
As for me. I will continue to look good in whatever old, worn, comfortable, and useful piece of clothing that I desire without a care or worry as to what people in New York or London or Paris are wearing. I do not have a style and styles have not seen the likes of me. The point of being a trend setter is not trying to set trends at all. Its that simple.
